The process of building exciting and believable work has fascinated Peter throughout his career. He is dedicated to helping actors become more creative, directable and personable.
Peter Rasmussen prides himself on providing creative and innovative casting to productions. As a Casting Director and member of the Casting Guild of Australia, he has worked extensively on major and minor productions and is adept at navigating the many pitfalls of acquiring a quality cast. He believes that keeping the process enjoyable for the client while providing a watertight system is key to a job well done. Peter has over 25 years industry experience. He began his casting career with Maura Fay Casting before branching out with his own company in Queensland. Peter Rasmussen has cast feature films including AACTA nominated The Butterfly Tree and Celeste. He has worked on many Network Television Shows including Neighbours, Packed to the Rafters, Sea Patrol, H20 – Just add water, The Doctor Blake Mysteries and the Underbelly Movies Files to name few.
Peter has a strong foundation in acting training with a Bachelor of Arts in Acting from QUT graduating in 1997. Peter has been profoundly affected by various techniques including Lee Strasburg, Ivanna Chubbuck, Eric Morris, Uta Hagan, Sanford Meisner, Robert Cohen, Mark Travis, Practical Aesthetics and Howard Fine. With an acting career including Film, TV and Theatre, Peter has drawn his influences together to form his own methodology.
His acting classes are much sort after and he has taught at major schools all over Australia including the Queensland University of Technology – Fine Arts Program, Griffith Film School, Queensland Conservatorium’s Performing Arts Progam, The Howard Fine School and the Melbourne Acting Academy. His students frequently go on to International success in lead roles.
