Self-Tape Your Showreel Course Overview:

Self-Tape Your Showreel is a focused, career-building program designed to help actors present themselves professionally and competitively in today’s casting landscape. Over six weeks, you will create a strong scene library that clearly showcases your casting type, range and strengths - the exact materials casting directors and agents need to confidently submit you for roles.

Taught directly by working Casting Director Peter Rasmussen, you’ll receive direct weekly feedback on your work, learn how casting actually assesses self-tape auditions, and gain the skills to consistently submit professional auditions. By the end of the program, you won’t just have great footage - you’ll have clarity, confidence, and a practical understanding of how to position yourself as an employable actor.

Great Self-Tapes Are How Roles Are Cast

Over 70% of first-round auditions are now requested via self-tape, often with very little notice. Actors need to be able to respond quickly and confidently, without relying on anyone else, and still deliver work that truly represents them.

FAQ's with Peter Rasmussen

  • Don't Showreels have to be professionally filmed?

Nope. We’re not really sure where this myth came from - but it’s definitely false. How are you supposed to get professional roles if you need to have already had professional roles to get the professional roles? A lot of actors get caught up in this chicken and the egg conundrum. Plain and simple - all you need is your best work filmed so that you can show the people who matter.

  • Should I hire a professional crew to film my Showreel for me, is that better?

If you have the money you're free to do so, but I personally don’t advise it. Paying someone thousands of dollars to film a ‘one and done’ showreel implies your acting work isn’t going to grow or improve. In today’s casting landscape there is no way to avoid self taping if you want to book regular acting work. You need to regularly add new work to show your best acting work.

  • Who will read for my audition if I’m self taping?

We provide you with a private page to contact other actors in our network to help each other online or in person. During this course I also show you multiple easy techniques to deal with not having a reader available.

  • Will I have access to the course after it’s over?

Yep - you keep it all. There’s loads of resources you’ll want to come back and check in on.

  • I have misgivings about online courses

Yep, I hear you. Actors are typically social creatures, we like to get in a room and feel the vibe. We all picture ourselves auditioning in person but the reality is this isn’t usually how it happens these days. This course shows actors how to put their personality across through a self tape and zoom audition, just like you will have to when auditioning for professional roles.

  • I've never self-taped before - will I be able to do this course?

Yes! You'll come out of this course confident about submitting self-tapes.

  • I don't own a film camera - can I still do this course?

Of course! Working actors deliver great self-tapes on their phone. And no, the phone doesn't even need to be the latest model.

Ready to submit your acting work with confidence?

If you’re ready to strengthen your submissions and take control of how you present yourself, this program will give you the structure, feedback and clarity to do it properly.
